Cheryll Gillespie and Sam Shakura of Kelowna’s Rock House Style, hosted a “High Caliber, High Tea”, fundraising event in support of The Responsible Animal Care Society (TRACS) last Sunday. The designing duo opened their Rock House lakefront home for the event, serving tea and goodies with a view of Okanagan Lake.
More than 100 people dressed in fancy hats and garden party attire attended the event. A plethora of donated items from numerous sponsors were up for bid in the silent auction to help TRACS, a local animal rescue group.
TRACS was instrumental in the removal and rescue of over 800 rabbits in Kelowna in 2008 and have been caring for them ever since. Although they are involved in rescuing other needy animals, TRACS is best known for their bunnies. Being an all-volunteer rescue, they rely solely on fundraising, donations and grants.
This event raised just short of $12,000 for the group who feels blessed to have the Rock House Style team supporting them. The outpouring of support seen at the event was truly amazing.
One element of the event is still running strong. “Buy a Carrot, Sponsor a Bunny” where your $30 donation will feed a Bunny for 30 days, can be found on the TRACS website at www.tracs-bc.ca where you can still purchase your carrot in time for Easter.
TRACS would also like to remind you that Bunnies, Chicks, and Ducks are not Easter Toys, they are a lifetime commitment. Choose chocolate!
